Building the reference point for teams. In this episode Judith Germain speaks to Patrick Ballin about high performing teams and team resilience. One of the issues companies face is that individuals feel that things are not settled and won’t be for a very long time yet.
They discuss how leaders can tell whether the team is ok when they are not co-located and the intensity that communication across video (eg Zoom, Teams) causes.
Patrick advises that all team individuals have a responsibility to ‘lean in’ and recognise how others work, the need for transition time and whether those working from home with their children present can really take another meeting during the day.
The challenge organisations face is that work is getting done – the transactional but not the relational. There is an increasing number of individuals who are working their whole time with a loss of connection to their organisation and the people within it.
This is an interesting conversation about high performing teams and how to nurture them during these uncertain times.
