Look who is turning four. The Maverick Paradox Magazine is now a precocious four-year-old.

This deserves a celebration. It is standing and walking independently and has found its voice. It is starting to discover what it likes and doesn’t and developing a solid self-identity.

I am proud to be part of those who have allowed it to learn, grow and discover. To be part of enabling it to find its voice, its audience and understand why people resonate with what it has to say.

As a featured columnist, I consider what I write here an honour and a privilege. What I write is not about me and expanding my brand as much as it is to enable those who read my work to have “aha moments” and allow them to think about things differently.

I believe that through discourse, we gain insights into things that we may never have considered and can look at the world from different perspectives.

When we do this, our lives become richer and fuller, creating opportunities and possibilities we have not previously considered.

None of us are all-knowing, and our perspectives are limited based on what has brought us to this place and time and what we have learned.

If what I write provides one person with new insights and understanding, then I have met my goals.

Take what you wish from my prose, incorporate it with your understanding of the world, and agree with it or not, but I ask you only one thing: if you disagree with it, and that is fine, be able to articulate why.

Here is wishing everyone the best of 2024, and if anything I say in the next year speaks to you directly, I am honoured and would be very interested in hearing your thoughts.

Also, if there are subjects you would like to hear me comment on, please feel free to send those to us, and we will attempt to add them to the editorial calendar.
