For some the very idea of The Public Sector Change Leader is a misnomer, believing that change leaders and the public sector cannot go hand in hand. This is why Judith Germain was keen to speak to Genine Whitehorne who was celebrated in 2013 by The Guardian newspaper in their article ‘one to watch: local government leaders of the future’.
The article tells us that her peers describe her as ‘a strong manager with a ‘natural coaching style that supports and empowers her team to take responsibility”. This was very much in evidence when she spoke to Judith on her Radio show.
Genine Whitehorne on radio!
Genine Whitehorne, is a change leader working with councils to realise the potential of their communities and local resources. She is a natural disruptor who challenges people to think and do differently. Genine leads whole system service design, strategic commissioning and partnership development with a focus on added social value.
She joins Judith Germain on The Maverick Paradox @ KLDR Online Leadership Development Radio this week where Genine discusses the changing nature of the role of the council. She remarks that the local and global environment has shifted so that it now requires a different form of leadership. One that moves from authoritarian to collaborative and Genine shares what this means for change leadership in local councils.
