Why David Chislett writes … for The Maverick Paradox Magazine. Every sea change in the world has required a pathfinder, a rebel, a lone voice in the wilderness. While this has never been an easy road to walk, in our current algorithm, pattern driven reality where rational, logical absolutism trumps intuition, feeling and creativity, it is even harder than before.
While humans are undoubtedly rational and logical beings, capable of high reason and clear thinking, I believe that all of this is in fact made possible by that hard-to-define capacity for creativity that we all possess. Without the creative capacity, there would be no mega corporations, scientific advancements, inspiring entrepreneurs or fine art in this world.
It is creativity that allows us to think rationally, seeking out the dots to join into patterns and rhythms.
It is my mission in life to help awaken that creativity in as many people as possible. We’ve had it shamed and trained out of us by schools, peers and societies that value predictability, rationality and familiarity above all else. That close circle of association has led us to a point in history where the options are clear and limited. We need new answers, new actions, new ways of doing things. And yet, we seem stuck in an ever-tightening death spiral of repeating the same old stuff while Rome literally burns.
THIS is why I write for the Maverick Paradox Magazine. As one lone voice against this cacophony of uniformity, I don’t stand much chance of being heard. But as part of a choir of like-minded, maverick thinkers, I believe we can reach far more people and have far greater impact.
The Maverick Paradox Magazine is a bastion of free thought, of thinkers who are not afraid to break the rules, question the goals and look more closely at HOW we do what we do in order to find new ways and new goals.
Massive change does not require the majority to adopt the new way or idea. It requires a critical mass. I see this magazine as a way of helping build that critical mass: infecting many minds with a desire to do things differently, to set different goals and require different standards.
I feel at home among the voices here, where dissent with the status quo is the rule rather than the exception. I also never feel like I am the smartest, or the most maverick voice in the room, which means I always have something to learn.
I hope it means you do to.
